ROMA (ITALPRESS) – Uno strumento in più per ottimizzare l’uso delle risorse energetiche tra Europa e Nord Africa. Il ministero dell’Ambiente e della Sicurezza Energetica ha autorizzato Elmed, l’interconnessione elettrica tra Italia e Tunisia. Sarà realizzata da Terna e da STEG, il gestore della rete tunisina. L’elettrodotto, per il quale è previsto un investimento complessivo di circa 850 milioni di euro, avrà una lunghezza di circa 220 chilometri, di cui la maggior parte in cavo sottomarino. Il collegamento in corrente continua da 600 MegaWatt raggiungerà una profondità massima di circa 800 metri lungo il Canale di Sicilia. Sul fronte italiano, il cavo terrestre si svilupperà per 18 chilometri dall’approdo di Castelvetrano fino alla stazione di conversione che verrà realizzata a Partanna, sempre nel Trapanese. In Tunisia, la stazione elettrica sarà realizzata a Mlaabi, nella penisola di Capo Bon.
